C ave Lake is near Latham, Ohio, in Pike County, Ohio, approximately 15 miles north of US 32 (the Appalachian Highway). Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus, Huntington, and Lexington are all within a 1 to 2 hour drive. Cave Lake is nestled in the Scioto River Valley of south central Ohio where altitudes within the area range from approximately 500 feet to 1100 feet.
1132 Bell Hollow Road Latham, Ohio 45646 Charlie Myers, HI-Y Program Director If you are driving to Cave Lake from the Cincinnati area, you might consider driving Rt. 32 (Appalachian Highway) east to Rt. 41. Turn north onto Rt. 41 and travel to Sinking Spring. At the 4-way stop, turn right onto Rt. 124. Travel about 4 miles to the intersection with Bell Hollow Road (Long's Retreat is on your left). Turn left onto Bell Hollow Road and travel one mile to the entrance to Cave Lake on your right. If you are driving to Cave Lake from the Columbus area, you might consider driving south on Rt. 23 to Chillicothe where you will then take Rt. 50 west. Travel Rt. 50W through the town of Bainbridge. Just on the west side of Bainbridge, turn south onto Rt. 41. In about 9 miles, turn left onto Bell Hollow Road. You will see a Cave Lake sign on your left at the intersection (Rt. 753 is to your right). Travel on Bell Hollow Road approximately 4 miles and our entrance will be on your left. If you are driving to Cave Lake from the east (Jackson area), you might consider traveling the Appalachian Highway (Rt. 32) west. A few miles west of Rt. 23, exit from Rt. 32 onto Rt. 772/124. Follow Rt. 124 through Idaho and Latham. About 4 miles west of Latham is the intersection of Bell Hollow Road (Long's Retreat on your right). Turn right onto Bell Hollow Road and follow it one mile to our entrance on your right. If you are driving to Cave Lake from the south (Portsmouth area), you might consider traveling north on Rt. 23 to Piketon. Then take the Appalachian Highway (Rt. 32) west. A few miles west of Rt. 23, exit from Rt. 32 onto Rt. 772/124. Follow Rt. 124 through Idaho and Latham. About 4 miles west of Latham is the intersection of Bell Hollow Road (Long's Retreat on your right). Turn right onto Bell Hollow Road and follow it one mile to our entrance on your right. If you are driving to Cave Lake from the Washington Court House area, you might consider driving south to Greenfield (Rt. 41 or Rt. 753). Travel Rt. 753 from town until you reach the stop sign at Rt. 41. Directly across Rt. 41 is Bell Hollow Road. Travel on Bell Hollow Road approximately 4 miles and our entrance will be on your left. For more specific driving directions from your location, you might want to visit MapQuest and enter your address at the STARTING LOCATION and Cave Lake's address at the ENDING LOCATION and then select GET DIRECTIONS. When you arrive at Cave Lake you will see the controlled entry gate. Please do not block the entry - park at the driveway with the green barrier gate (to the right) or along the roadside. Walk to the office (brown building just to the right of the entry gate) and tell the staff person the nature of your visit. If no one is at the office, you will need to wait there for a staff member to return. It is recommended that you call or us prior to your arrival giving us a day/time to expect you so we can be sure that someone is at the office when you do arrive. |
